Why is it that all the Pro-Nuke bloggers have to post "anonymously" like thieves in the night... If their arguments held any weight, they'd stand by the strenght of their own convictions, and reveal themselves like honorable men or women as the case may be... For all I see, these are just hired hands, who wield a relatively appropriate prose, distort, take out of context, emphasize the wrong weaker bits, and leave you wanting for truth and honesty... Indian Point is a dead duck... go away... go find other communities to terrorize with your "almost" safe antiquated nuke relics... We can make our own electricity, thank you, we don't need Mama Entergy to breast feed us...
OK, I have your rules down..... no cut'n'paste, ......no down home wisdom.

Gotcha, boss!

I know from working at a job designing seismic structures, that unless the fracture point is reached, a shaken structure is just as strong after the shake as it was before the shake. I know this NOT because I'm god (your words) but because God gave me a brain, and the veteran's administration gave me 6 years of engineering training.

In fact, I walk the Hudson shore daily. I do not drink, because brick dust from the 1890 brick foundries fouls the waters, as does the smelly outfall pipes from the Annsville human waste treatment plant, 1/4 mile upstream of Indian Point.

But I swam there yesterday. I take my dogs there for exercise, and incidentally, I police the shoreline, bagging & removing any foul or unseemly crap thrown there by other swimmers or boaters.

Why is truth so hard for some to swallow?
Is something maybe stuck there in your throat?

As far as being insane, those who allow themselves to be duped are not only insane, but sinful fools, not living up to the true capacity given them by their anscestral spirits.

Please, Mr. Wasserman, stop screaming.

Kashwazaki did not "almost explode", as you imply.

Some dirty water spilled, and a trivial outdoor transformer caught fire (as such transformers do, over 1000 times per year).

To say we ALMOST had the end of civilization is just your own personal advertising campaign. We almost had asteroid MN4 hit the earth, also (but didn't). We almost lost WWII to Hitler (but didn't). And as you are well aware, we almost caught Osama Bin Laden.

Careerist antinukes live in a universe of "Almost".

Almost right..... almost truthful..... almost informed..... almost on the side of the people, but yet .... never quite, either!

The water that spilled had about half the radioactivity of some very popular radon therapy spas in Japan, Europe, & the USA, spas demonstrated to alleviate arthritic pain via low dose radiation baths.

So standing in the flood at Kashiwazaki might have cured your hysteria.
You should have been there. We might have been spared your fact-bending post blitz!

Then, as a testament to your faith, please go down to the Hudson River just below the Indian Point reactors and drink some of the water...I dare you, or are you going to say something just as inane as your comments.

Since I know you won't and you'll probably comment with more of your assisine ignorance.

And as for your statement about Indian Point being on solid ground, you forget that ground vibration, no matter how minuscule, weakens the strongest steel and concrete. But you must think you are God or some higher being that can predict stress failures in metals or the occurrence of an earthquake.

Then whatever you reply, please don't copy and paste others materials, then try to add your down-home folksy wisdom to it because that only shows that you are a follower of lies, not a leader of truths.

If you are not the originating author, and are only repeating nonsense from green nuclear butterfly, I apologize. Green nuclear butterfly is Sherwood Martinelli, who lies all the time. Never believe anything from Mr. Martinelli.

The Kashiwagazi nuclear plant splashed a little water, and had a trivial transformer burn, but otherwise survived the earthquake with flying colors. While roads, buildings, bridges, houses, etc fell down everywhere, the nuke plant suffered no adverse affects.

So what is the lesson to learn? Admire the builders, who designed it so strong. As far as the splashed water, read this:

300 gallons of water leaked from a pool in the No. 6 reactor that was not working at the time of the temblor. The water contained 1.62 microcuries of radiation, equal to the amount contained in 12 gallons of radon hot spa water, and is not harmful to the health of people.

RADON SPAS

An Oxford University study found at:http://rheumatology.oxfordjournals.org/cgi/content/full/39/8/894
found that radon spa therapy had measurable positive effects on arthritis sufferers.

Read:
We undertook a study of the efficacy of baths with natural spring water containing radon and carbon dioxide in comparison with baths containing artificially produced carbon dioxide at the same concentration as in the spring water, but without radon.
Sixty patients participating in an in-patient rehabilitation programme including a series of 15 baths were randomly assigned to two groups.
Design. Pain intensity (100 mm visual analogue scale) and functional restrictions [Keitel functional test, Arthritis Impact Measurement Scales (AIMS questionnaire)] were measured at baseline, after completion of treatment and 3 and 6 months thereafter. To investigate whether the overall value of the outcomes was the same in both groups, the overall mean was analysed by Student's t-test for independent samples.
Results. The two groups showed a similar baseline situation. After completion of treatment, relevant clinical improvements were observed in both groups, with no notable group differences. However, the follow-up revealed sustained effects in the radon arm, and a return to baseline levels in the sham arm. After 6 months, marked between-group differences were found for both end-points (pain intensity: -16.9%, 95% confidence interval -27.6 to -6.2%; AIMS score: 0.57, 95% confidence interval 0.16 to 0.98). The between-group differences were statistically significant for both overall means (pain intensity, P = 0.04; AIMS, P = 0.01).
Conclusion. Marked short-term improvements in both groups at the end of treatment may have masked potential specific therapeutic effects of radon baths. However, after 6 months of follow-up the effects were lasting only in patients of the radon arm. This suggests that this component of the rehabilitative intervention can induce beneficial long-term effects.
The inert natural radioactive gas radon has been used since the beginning of the century in the treatment of rheumatic diseases. The most famous European health resort where radon is used therapeutically is Badgastein in Austria. Evidence from empirical experience and from clinical observational studies [3–6] suggests that radon has analgesic [7, 8], anti-inflammatory [9] and immune-stimulating [10, 11] effects. Patients' compliance with radon treatment is usually high. However, because of its intrinsic radioactivity the therapeutic use of radon is still controversial [e.g. 12, 13]. The dosages used in radon therapy are very small. Hofmann [14] compared target organ doses in medical X-ray diagnosis with those of several radon treatment schemes used at Badgastein. For instance, the dose equivalents for an X-ray examination of the lumbosacral spine are typically about 40 mSv and almost twice as much as this for computed tomography, whereas a typical series of thermal baths in Badgastein results in a cumulative exposure of 0.8 mSv to the skin, which receives the highest organ-specific dose. Although there are differences in radiation quality, exposure time and the distribution of radiation, the organ doses are similar for the two exposure modes, and therefore the radiation hazards may also be supposed to be similar [14].

So, if you had arthritis, and were standing in the path of the Kashiwagazi water spill, it could have relieved your pain symptoms for 6 months or so.

Please note that no incompetency of any kind happened in the incident. Sherwood Martinelli is trying to lie everyone into thinking nuclear plants are run by incompetent people. In fact, it is Martinelli who is totally incompetent at telling the truth.

I am Zaldun

Have a great day, and never repeat anything you find on green nuke butterfly, it is just sick nonsense.

Indian point has two (2) working siren systems.

The older system has scored 100% in its last half dozen tests. The new system has scored 95% in recent tests, but is being required to be 100% , or considered a 100% failure. This is not fair, of course.
Be that as it may, there are 2 (two) systems in place.

NO radioactive tritium or strontium has been found in the Hudson River. Go and find me a report stating that a qualified tester, with validated equipment , has found radioactive leakage from Indian Point in the river. You won't find it, because there has been no such finding.

What there WAS, were exaggerated news reports, and propaganda blogs, lying about it.

The owner found a damp smudge on a concrete wall, well inside the plant, tested it for tritium, and then encapsulated it with a steel bathtub device. End of tritium. The owner then dug 50 wells in a circle around the plant to a 250 foot depth, and found minute traces of SR90 in one well.

That well does not leach into the Hudson, being 250 below the level of the river bottom, encased in granite.

"Active" fault?
An earthquake in 1791, and an earthquake in 1884. This is "Active"?

Do you know nothing of the seismic protections built in to every door, every wall, every bracket, and every pipe at Indian Point? It can easily ride out a Kashiwagazi earthquake, just as Kashiwagazi did.

You, sir have been misled.

and you are completely foolish, I have no wife lol...

Wake up, whomever you are! Don't be blinded to the truth you forgot to comment about in my blog.

Indian Point is dangerous, no warning system, located on an seismically active fault, pouring dangerous radionuclides into the groundwater, and Hudson River.

And you are whom?

Well, Mr, scribefire, I invite you to embrace all your wrongness and admit you have nothing to offer working families, families that need Indian Point's reliable power.

The bogus description you give of Japan's reactors is all negative bullshit hysteria, and the negative spin you apply to Indian Point comes very close to outright lying.

You appear to have some "cause" that is blinding you to the harm you do by lying in this way. If you were right, that would be one thing, but you are not only wrong, you are knowingly wrong, and pulling Native American spokespeople down with you into the morass of insanity that is a liar's fate.
